About

For my entire career as an attorney, I have been serving the public as a prosecutor, working for both the Shelby County District Attorney General’s Office and as a Special Assistant United States Attorney. I’ve prosecuted domestic violence crimes, homicides, DUIs, and other violent and repeat offenders committing gun crimes. I work to reduce violent crime, protect victims and the public. I know our neighborhoods have been flooded with crime, and too often victims feel like their voices get lost. As a judge, I will make sure no case is disposed of without the victims knowing they have an opportunity to be heard in court.

As a career prosecutor, I have often seen people with long criminal histories who have been failed by the criminal justice system. Much needed mental health or drug addiction treatment has not been provided, or even offered, until it is too late. As a judge, I will make sure that all offenders, especially first time and low-level offenders, are given the proper evaluation and treatment programs that can be in place when they are returned back into the community.

I will run a well-organized, efficient, and technologically advanced courtroom, using electronic court-date notifications, having video court hearings when possible, and reducing wait times for victims, witnesses, and law enforcement when they are needed in court.

Outside of the courtroom, I constantly strive to make our community a better place. I regularly serve as an instructor in the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office’s recruit classes, helping to make sure our new Sheriff’s deputies are well trained on the law on violent crimes in our state. I have worked with the Youth Court program as well as spoken at our Juvenile CeaseFire Gun Safety Program. I also serve as an advisor to the Memphis Police Department’s Crump Precinct.
