As a Mississippi officer of 12 years, I have seen firsthand the importance of creating opportunities for the young men in our community. Quitman County is a predominantly African American community with a median income of yearly income of $25,783 with nearly 30% of those families living in poverty with limited access to food and employment opportunities. What this looks like is a lack of opportunities and imagination about the possibility of a bright future.

With the help of my Board and family, I started Men United, Inc in March of 2021 to help create opportunities for young men, and as we continue to grow, young women.  Men United comes from the core of my being because I recognize the pressing need within my community to guide, support, and empower young boys as they navigate the challenges of adolescence. Circumstances should not dictate a child's trajectory. At Mens United we see the potential in each and every young person and feel a burning desire to help them discover their own worth, strength, and purpose.

This program was born out of a genuine compassion, and a heartfelt understanding that these young minds are in need of positive role models, and mentors who inspire them to dream big, break barriers, and overcome the obstacles that life presents. At Men United, we understand that a guiding hand, a listening ear, and an empathetic heart could make an immeasurable difference in the lives of our young people.
