Busy Bee Kakery!

The busy Bee is the busiest bee of all. She is a mother a chef a sister a daughter a therapist a friend a doctor and sometimes the surgeon to take out the splinters. Hi my name is Kimberly owner and proprietor of the Busy Bee Kakery. I remember standing on a pot frying chicken next to my mom when I was 8 years old cutting potatoes to make potato salad and all other things soul food inspired.

I spent years running behind my mom in the kitchen. I was lucky enough to be a military brat and have babysitters that were international from Korean to Spanish to German they taught me whatever they knew when it came to cooking. I’ve been carrying these skills most of my life. I worked in restaurants until I became a mother and as we all know restaurant work can be kind of crazy so I oppted out to have a regular life and regular job but yet I still missed the intense smell and heat of the kitchen rush and the energy of feeding people.

After modestly bringing in things I used to make at home and sharing them with my coworkers I was then asked to bring in more and more and one day I said hey you guys must like what I make and they did and they’re willing to pay whatever I charged and at that very moment I was an accidental caterer . I made cakes and cupcakes for people that just wanted them. Big beautiful salads stews and parfaits. bread puddings banana puddings anything that would warm your heart and they loved it.

Watching my aunts fry fish at night under the Southern Moon in South Carolina making sweet tea and sour cream cornbread when there was not always milk. My love to cook and bake was more than just for something to eat it was the love of gathering and enjoying life and the little things that really matter which is time and sharing that with someone you love why not let it be delicious!
