2017 Cooper Young Festival
Music Lineup!

Join us Saturday, September 16 for a day of music at the biggest party of the summer.  September 16 is the date of this year’s Cooper Young Festival presented by Evolve Bank and Trust.  What a selection of music we have! Seventeen musical acts on three stages – it doesn’t get better than this.

The Main Stage kicks off at 11:15 am with Memphis’ most loved jazz and blues lady, Joyce Cobb.  Joyce was the Headliner at the very first Cooper Young Festival held in 1988.  We will be honoring Joyce on stage before her performance for her more than forty years of making Memphis shine with her elegant, soulful voice and personality.  We have a grand collection of all types of genres on the Main Stage this year.  The Band CAMINO just released their 2nd EP Heaven and have been touring heavily while keeping their roots in Memphis. Our headliner, Star and Micey, has recently released their “Get’Em Next Time” album and have been a Memphis rock favorite for many years.  The Main Stage is located in front of Young Avenue Deli.

The Memphis Grizzlies Stage will be highlighting the best of the best in young Memphis musicians and groups made up of students from the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music at the University of Memphis. The PRVLG is the result of a collaboration between a set of twins, Christian and Christopher Underwood their sound draws influences from Memphis legends like Al Green and Justin Timberlake. Drew Erwin, who has been called “one of the best vocalists in Memphis” has already shared the stage with artists like Kelly Clarkson and Allen Stone despite being just 21 years old. The Memphis Grizzlies Stage is located at the intersection of Young Avenue and Meda Street.

901 Comics is hosting the stage located in the First Congo Church parking lot. This lineup brings artists associated with Cooper Young recording label, 5 and Dime Recording.  You don’t want to miss the legendary Memphis punk band the Angel Sl*ts, formed in 2003, who will play a rare daytime reunion show.   Original guitarist Shane Essary/Charlie Angel will be performing with the band while making a hometown visit from LA.  Another not miss would be the Dead Soldiers, Americana rock n roll roots rockers with the wall of sound to back it up.  New album the Great Emptiness out now!
