Lydia is a fun and outgoing 6-year-old girl who was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. She had one wish and that was to go on a trip to Hawaii! So Make-A-Wish Mid-South stepped in and decided to make her dreams come true. Raymond James’ Employees came together with Make-A-Wish and worked hard to raise the money to make her wish possible. During the week, Lydia was running errands with her parents, when they “stumbled” upon Raymond James decked in Hawaiian-themed decorations. Lydia was in for a surprise and they celebrated with hula dancers and cake!

Make-A-Wish Mid-South has kids who are diagnosed with critical illnesses reffered to them so that they can help grant their one true wish so that they can make it through the next stage of treatement or to have these memories last a lifetime. Now this does not happen by Make-A-Wish alone, in fact everything that they do is because of all of the people in the community that want to help out these kids!

The employees of Raymond James decided to all pull together and raise enough money for Lydia’s wish and they were able to see Lydia’s reaction at the reveal party when she realized that her wish was granted!

Lydia goes to hawaii!

Seeing lydia’s joy and excitement when opening her gifts and fully realizing that her dream is about to happen is encouraging to see first-hand that Make-A-Wish is truely making an impact on kids all over the place.

The great thing about this is that anybody can help! They need wish granting volunteers, event volunteers, companies, schools, individuals, businesses, clubs, volunteer groups, and any group of people who want to step in and join Make-A-Wish in any form or fashion!

“Make-A-Wish® grants the wishes of children with critical conditions. Doctors diagnose one child every 20 minutes with a critical illness. Recent studies have shown that wishes provide long-term impact through increased emotional and physical health, making children more likely to overcome their conditions. Each year, Make-A-Wish Mid-South grants wishes for more than 275 children locally. The average cost of a wish is more than $8,000, and Make-A-Wish relies solely on fundraisers, corporate support, and donations from the public to transform lives, one wish at a time.

If you are looking for a way to help kids in Memphis then Make-A-Wish will create something specifically for you and what you are looking for.” (Make-A-Wish Mid-South Press Release)
