When art and food collide

Taste of Gallery
David’s interest in cooking sparked while preparing healthy meals for his grandmother, Dory, who was diabetic. He got his start at a restaurant in Tampa, FL when he was just a teen. He poured water for guests and eventually worked his way up to dishwasher, then prep cook, and so on.
My mother was in the restaurant business, so I’d spend time there after school sometimes, doing my homework and bugging the servers to let me roll their silverware. When I was old enough to get a job it just made sense to find something in the service industry. I was comfortable there.
David left his job this year to pursue opening a restaurant.  He was cooking in people’s homes and we were working events, but he had all this creative energy and needed an outlet. He was having a conversation with Gabe Velasquez and mentioned that we wanted to find somewhere to have a pop up dinner. Gabe had a building! So we got to work putting it together. I contacted artists we knew to see if they wanted to show their work during the dinners. We got a bigger response than expected. Gabe had muralists come in (Adam Exelbierd & Jamond Bullock) and we got the art hung and the name Gallery just stuck.
Dining
The art that is on display at Taste of Gallery, no matter where the event is held, is always for sale. The idea is that there’s art on the walls, art on the plate, even the tables were made by a local carpenter out the the wood from the tear out at 64 S. Main.
We post updates for upcoming events on our Facebook and Instagram pages. You can find links to subscribe to our email list or purchase tickets on either page. Tickets are available directly through eventbrite. There’s only 20 seats per dinner, so get them before they’re gone! Each dinner is 6 or more courses and includes wine pairings.
