Empowering Youth is about our Village Coming together to Serve our Youth!

As the co-founder of JustMyMemphis.com and a passionate advocate for youth empowerment, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Memphis City Council and Mayor Paul Young for their unwavering commitment to serving our city's young people. Their recent focus on youth-oriented initiatives, particularly Councilwoman Jerri Green's proposal for youth transportation to mental health services, demonstrates a profound understanding of the challenges facing our community's future leaders.

The City Council's dedication to youth services is evident in various programs and initiatives. The Memphis Youth City Council, for instance, provides a platform for young voices to be heard and cultivates future civic leaders. The Office of Youth Services offers enrichment programs and internships, fostering growth and opportunity for Memphis youth. These efforts, combined with Mayor Young's support, create a strong foundation for positive change in our community.

Building on this momentum, I am excited to introduce the Empowering Youth Movement through JustMyMemphis.com. Our goal is to unite all stakeholders who support our youth, creating a collaborative network that serves young people as a cohesive team rather than in isolated silos. We aim to connect community assets in one easy-to-use platform, ensuring that young people, families, and community leaders can quickly access the services they need.

To this end, we extend an open invitation to city leaders, youth organizations, church and community leaders to join us in this crucial endeavor. By working together, we can amplify our impact and create a brighter future for Memphis youth.

The Empowered Youth Challenge is Coming

JustMyMemphis is thrilled to announce the launch of the Empowered Youth Challenge on July 5th! This exciting video contest invites Memphis youth to share their perspectives on local issues and offer advice to peers, parents, and city leaders. Participants have the chance to win a $1,000 scholarship and an appearance at the Stomp the City Iconic Awards. Full contest details will be released on July 5th at JustMyMemphis.com. We encourage all young Memphians to start brainstorming their ideas for this unique opportunity to make their voices heard and contribute to positive change in our community.

I would like to request a meeting with Mayor Young, members of the City Council, and other key stakeholders to facilitate an exchange of ideas focused on serving the youth of our city. This collaborative approach aligns with the city's current initiatives, such as the Memphis Fast Forward program, which has shown the power of coordinated efforts in addressing community challenges.

A special note of appreciation goes to Councilwoman Jerri Green for her tireless efforts in support of our youth. Her proposed budget item for youth transportation to mental health services is a prime example of the innovative thinking needed to address the complex issues facing our young people. This initiative not only provides practical support but also sends a powerful message that our city values the mental health and well-being of its youth.

As we move forward, let's remember that investing in our youth is investing in the future of Memphis. The recent support for after-school programs by the City Council and the Community Grant Program are steps in the right direction. However, there's still much work to be done.

The Empowering Youth Movement seeks to build on these efforts, creating a comprehensive support system that addresses the multifaceted needs of our youth. From mental health support to educational opportunities, from career development to civic engagement, we envision a Memphis where every young person has the resources and support they need to thrive.

In conclusion, I call upon all those who care about the future of Memphis to join us in this movement. Together, we can create a city where every young person has the opportunity to rise above challenges and reach their full potential. Let's unite our efforts, share our resources, and work collaboratively to empower the youth of Memphis.

To get involved or to schedule a meeting to discuss these initiatives further, please contact us through JustMyMemphis.com. Together, we can make Memphis a model city for youth empowerment and success.
