Sunrise just opened on November 27th and is a hidden gem right here in Memphis that must be found!

You walk in and immediately get the feel of your mama’s cooking with a home-like atmosphere with all the details such as the unique mugs and the fresh drip coffee.

If Sunrise had to be famous for one thing, it would be their fluffy buttermilk biscuits. My first order was the Rooster, and after the first bite I knew that Sunrise was different than any other breakfast place. They take pride in the mastery of not only their biscuits, but getting everything made perfectly, such as the crispy outside of the chicken strips while maintaining the juicy and tender inside.

    An inside look

After finishing up, we headed on back to the kitchen to see where the magic happens. The staff welcomed us in with true southern hospitality as we got ready to make some biscuits ourselves.

We mixed all the ingredients to get the dough (If only we could have gotten the secret recipe too), pressed the dough down to the specific measurements, and began cutting the dough into the famous square biscuits that they produce. Sky and I may have been covered in gobs of flour, but we had a great time assisting in the process of these delicious biscuits.

If you live in Memphis or if you are here to visit, you can check them out between 6am and 3pm for all day breakfast, or come for lunch at 11!

Amazon’s Past Reveals the Future of FedEx

I was sitting down with a friend who works in sales at FedEx a few years ago and I brought up the question of Amazon replacing FedEx as a dominant player in shipping. My friend said that would never happen. FedEx isn’t worried about Amazon. At that time Amazon Prime was new. Amazon had just purchased a fleet of jets and trailers for shipping. A look at Amazon’s past was like the handwriting on the wall for me.

The Blues Foundation doing Amazing Things during IBC week!

This week at Club 152 on Beale Street there was a health fair. Wait, a health fair in a bar? Yes and that is because this was no ordinary health fair, it was a health fair being put on for Blues artists coming to town from around the world.
