Join us for our annual 5k

The Sickle Cell 5K Run Walk in Memphis originated in 2007 by the Alpha Memphis Education Foundation. It was developed to create a greater awareness in the Memphis community of Sickle Cell Disease and to raise money for patient care, social services, and research. Presently, the event is under the leadership of the Sickle Cell Foundation of Tennessee. All proceeds from the event will directly benefit individuals living with Sickle Cell. The ultimate goal is to improve the quality of life for individuals living with this debilitating disease. In 2013 the event changed the name to the Mark Walden Memorial Sickle Cell 5K in memory of Chief Meteorologist Mark Walden of ABC24. Mark was the celebrity MC for the event in 2011-2012. Mark lived with sickle cell and was a huge supporter of the Sickle Cell Foundation of Tennessee.

The vision of The Sickle Cell Foundation of Tennessee is to increase the education, health awareness, life skills, promote self-sufficiency and improve their quality of life of individuals living with Sickle Cell Disease.

My friend said that would never happen. FedEx isn’t worried about Amazon. At that time Amazon Prime was new. Amazon had just purchased a fleet of jets and trailers for shipping. A look at Amazon’s past was like the handwriting on the wall for me.

The Blues Foundation doing Amazing Things during IBC week!

This week at Club 152 on Beale Street there was a health fair. Wait, a health fair in a bar? Yes and that is because this was no ordinary health fair, it was a health fair being put on for Blues artists coming to town from around the world.
