The Forest Spence Fund
Looking back at my time spent working for the Forrest Spence Fund, it is evident to me that what started as an important summer internship, quickly turned into working for an organization that I now understand and am very passionate about supporting.

My first day on the job, I was motivated by the mission of the organization, which is to assist with the non-medical needs of families who have children that are critically or chronically ill throughout the Mid-South.

Later that week, I had my first of many visits to the local children’s hospital and I began to see the difference the Forrest Spence Fund makes in the lives of the families staying there. And by the end of my first week, I had lived out the mission of the Fund and from that point on, I was motivated by my belief in that mission. I wanted to go to work and be a part of this organization that is actively doing good in the community and making an impact on the lives of families in and outside of the hospital. Each week working at the fund, we were helping someone new and reaching out to different groups asking for assistance in aiding the needs of families.

Rewarding Experience
This whole summer was a humbling and rewarding experience that grew me as person, which is one of the reasons Brittany has summer interns.

Brittany Spence, the executive director of FSF, has a goal for every summer intern she hires, and that goal goes beyond experiences in the business world. Of course she wanted to challenge us, but overall, she wanted to shape us into women who know how to lead and serve in a Christ-like manner.

Working with Brittany, there’s no doubt she was the perfect person to model this leadership. She is a person that leads by example and is intentional in everything she does. Working for a person with such passion for their organization is what made Brittany a role model for me. She has taught me the dedication, selflessness, and joy that comes with believing in something so deeply.

I believe in the Forrest Spence Fund and I believe in people that have had a part in helping the FSF mission be alive in the Mid-South.
