Carpenter for Commissioner

Jordan Carpenter for Shelby County District 4

About

Jordan was raised in suburban Shelby County and graduated from Evangelical Christian School. He attended the University of Alabama with a full academic scholarship but left that friendly, familiar setting in order to enlist in the United States Army in 2006.

Jordan served four years on active duty as an Army Airborne Psychological Operations Specialist. He completed combat tours in both Afghanistan and Iraq while attached to Army Special Forces teams and joint Special Operations units. Jordan’s military decorations include the Combat Action Badge, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, and Bronze Star Medal.

After leaving active duty, Jordan continued to serve in the Army Reserve with the 325th Tactical Psychological Operations Company (Airborne) in Nashville, Tennessee, while completing his bachelor’s degree at the University of Alabama. He then graduated cum laude from Vermont Law School in 2016. After a short time as a civil litigation attorney, Jordan took his current role as Executive Vice President and General Counsel at Artisent Floors, a Memphis-based company.

Jordan married Emily, his high-school sweetheart, in 2008. She was a registered nurse before being promoted to full-time homemaker. Emily and Jordan have four children (three girls and a boy) and a grumpy, old dog named Benji. They are members at First Evangelical Church, where Jordan sings tenor in the choir.

If you’re up early enough or out late enough, you might catch Jordan working out with the men of F3 Memphis, a group dedicated to the invigoration of male community leadership.
