Abby Cooley –

Abby had a NICU baby and the Forrest Spece Fund helped her in incredible ways. She is now the Program Director for the Forrest Spence Fund and get’s to help and see the impact everyday!

Amanda McCollum-

Amanda lost her daughter from a complex heart problem and her third child had a heart defect and has down syndrome. Forrest spence provided so much support for this family in need.

Joel Hobson-

Joel and his wife Jennifer lost their precious little girl at two weeks and during this time Forrest Spence was not up and running. They know first-hand how helpful they would have been for them. In response, they are now are the presenting sponsor for the 5k.

Join the Forrest Spence Fund on August 25th at 8:00 am for a 5k run, with a 100 yard dash for kids (8 & under) at 9:15 and 1 Mile Fun Run (kids 12 & under) at 9:20 am. There will be games, bounce houses, slides, food, awards, door prizes, and more. Bring the entire family for a fun filled morning at Memphis Botanic Garden.

Forrest Spence Fund

The Forrest Spence Fund is an official 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that was founded in 2007 in memory of Robert Forrest Spence. The mission of the Fund is to assist with the non-medical needs of critically or chronically ill children and their families throughout the Mid-South.

In honor of Forrest, the organization strives to support families dealing with similar difficult situations and to give back to regional children’s hospitals like Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, Children’s Hospital at Erlanger in Chattanooga, Baptist Women’s Memorial Hospital, and St. Jude Children’s Hospital, where the amazing medical staff fights for thousands of children each year.

cityCURRENT is a privately-funded catalyst for the Mid-South and Middle Tennessee. A team of more than 100 partner companies have come together to host FREE events, along with an array of positive-oriented media and philanthropic initiatives to enrich, engage and impact the community. I was sitting down with a friend who works in sales at FedEx a few years ago and I brought up the question of Amazon replacing FedEx as a dominant player in shipping. My friend said that would never happen. FedEx isn’t worried about Amazon. At that time Amazon Prime was new. Amazon had just purchased a fleet of jets and trailers for shipping. A look at Amazon’s past was like the handwriting on the wall for me.
