The cityCURRENT Radio Show is run by Jeremy Park and it airs every Sunday from 7-8 AM. Jeremy does an amazing job at running the show as it airs on Kix 106, The Max, 98.9 the Bridge, and 103.5 WRBO; reaching over 750,000 listeners every week. His focus on the show is to feature different businesses and community leaders and look at the impact they are making in community.
Jeremy Kindly invited JustMyMemphis to be aired on the show and allowed us to present some different things going on within the community through JustMy. As we got settled in to the studio, we got set up on the microphones and began recording in no time. This was my first time meeting Jeremy and seeing what he does first hand, and I have to say, he truly knows how to dive into an organization and drive a conversation with a group of people in a proficient and positive way. Everything was easily done in one take and we had a great time experiencing behind the scenes action with cityCURRENT.

Jeremy engages many different organizations every week to bring out what they are all about including Chick-Fil-A’s My Town Miracles fundraiser, Youth Villages Mentoring, Levitt Shell and the Foundation, People Cap, and many more than you can check out and even listen to on their website here.

Meritan & The Annual Bike Tour

Meritan & The Annual Bike Tour

the annual Bike tour

This article is being brought to you by cityCURRENT, Get Involved & Power the GOOD!

Meritan just recently moved into their brand new home at the end of December and now are located in downtown Memphis. The reason for this move was for several reasons, such as most of their clients are from that area, allowing the company to be more accessible to them. After talking with several employees, it seems that the building being one floor has made everything much easier not having to deal with elevator issues or stairs. After touring the building and speaking with the employees, it’s easy to see how this move has assisted in the ability to effectively fulfill their mission within the organization.

If you don’t know, Meritan is a health and social service non-profit that was founded in 1961 and since then they have added on foster care into their work. The heart of everyone who works at Meritan is what makes the company who they are today, they so effortlessly love on their clients, from babies to seniors, and pour themselves into improving the well-being of others and creating an independence into their lives. They live out their mission statement and allow that to make a huge impact on the lives they touch.

Meritan’s largest fundraiser that they do every year is the Meritan Moonlight Classic Bike Tour, and this year they are re-vamping the event to something bigger and better!

Along with their company, they have moved their bike tour downtown where Bass Pro has so generously offered up their space as the representing sponsor. Another one of the differences is that this year they are providing two routes, one is eight miles and the other is sixteen. They are also moving the start time from midnight to 10pm, therefore there is no excuse to bring your kids out to the fun too! People drive from all over the country to attend this event as they deck out their bikes with lights and bling and put on all sorts of costumes to celebrate. The date this year is August 4th, so put it on your calendar and spread the word!

cityCURRENT is a privately-funded catalyst for the Mid-South and Middle Tennessee. A team of more than 100 partner companies have come together to host FREE events, along with an array of positive-oriented media and philanthropic initiatives to enrich, engage, and impact the community. Our mission is to #PowertheGOOD and we invite you to join with us

Fighting MS One Beer At A Time‏

Fighting MS One Beer At A Time‏

Through craft beer, food and live music The 7th Annual Brew Movement Against Multiple Sclerosis was founded by Joseph Barnes to benefit the Mid-South Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

About 2.3 million people are affected by multiple sclerosis (MS) worldwide. MS is an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body. The cause of MS is still unknown; however, scientists believe the disease is triggered by as-yet-unidentified environmental factor(s) in a person who is genetically predisposed to respond.

The Mid South Chapter of the National MS Society, works to improve the quality of life for people affected by MS in Tennessee, North Georgia, North Mississippi and Eastern Arkansas and raise funds for critical MS research through events like the Brew Movement Against Multiple Sclerosis.

This grassroots charitable event will feature a various styles of homebrew as well as craft beer to sample along with a variety of edibles, making for an entertaining way to support a good cause. To go along with the wide variety of craft beer and food, there will also be a silent auction, as well as key note speakers talking about their experiences with MS.

This event is the only beer festival for the Multiple Sclerosis Society in the entire Southeastern United States and will be held at the beautiful Pink Palace Museum and mansion.

Tickets for the Brew Movement are $35 in advance and $40 at the door. Note that the number of tickets at the door will be limited.
